My students are some of the goofiest but brightest kids. I can see each and every day how hard they are working to be the best readers and writers they can be and I can see the effort they are putting in every single day.
I want these kids to leave this room feeling like they were able to give their best because I gave them my best.
By showing them how excited I am about our classroom library, I hope that they will feel equally as excited.
My Project
As a first year teacher, it is hard to stock a fully functional library on my own.
I want my students to have access to books that they are excited to read.
This year is the first year that they transition from 'learning to read' to 'reading to learn'. I need books in my room that excite them and get them motivated to read each and every day.
When my students go pick books to read each day, they are discouraged by the fact that we have so few books. As much as I would love to give them all of the books, it is challenging to supply them on my own. My hope is that I can help supply my students with more books so that they can be excited about reading as well.
