I am a first-year teacher who could not be more excited to meet my upcoming class of 4th graders! Fourth graders are full of creative and innovative insight, and I am looking forward to learning from and with my students every day. I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of a staff that strongly believes students learn through play, hands-on experiences, technology integration, design thinking, building, and much more. We believe that children are kind, responsible, honest, and resilient. They are risk-takers, creative, and real-world problem solvers when given the right tools.
Reading is a tool that helps foster imagination, spark curiosity, increase empathy, and broaden perspectives.
As a new teacher, I strive to build a diverse classroom library that encourages all students to find and strengthen their love for reading. Every child is unique and has varying interests, so I aim to build a book collection that motivates and engages all students in reading.
My Project
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go" -Dr. Seuss. Reading promotes both social and academic growth, which will help students in future endeavors both inside and outside the classroom. Having a variety of books will allow students to find ones that peak their interest and receive the many benefits that reading has to offer.
Creativity and imagination are essential 21st century skills, which need to be encouraged and cultivated in our students.
Reading is one way to spark imagination and curiosity, as students read books that allow them to explore new worlds, expand their horizons, and open their minds to new possibilities. Students step into new perspectives, empathize with characters, and often connect with universal themes while reading. Being a new teacher, I am just starting to build my library. I care deeply about creating one that contains books students can become enthralled in. I would greatly appreciate any and all assistance in forming a classroom library that helps all students find and strengthen their love for reading.
