Learning to read is our main focus in first grade. Unfortunately, we don't always have enough quality reading materials. The Weekly Reader is a magazine that is delivered to the classroom each week. It provides students with interesting and informative reading materials, as well as activities that are aligned with California standards. The articles are age-appropriate and teach the students about current events. An additional benefit of the Weekly Reader is that the students can bring the paper home and read it with their families for further practice.
