We are the home of the STARS! We have a very diverse group of students in all grade levels. Our school adopted a "house system". The inspiration came from the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. Staff and students have been divided into 3 different houses, Orion, Polaris, and Vega. Students earn stars based on attendance, academic success, house respect, positive character traits, and behavior. This helps foster community within our school and allows students to bond with others outside of the classroom.
Each of my 5th grade students bring something unique to our class.
Through motivation and dedication we strive for excellence. We are a team and we learn together through ups and downs. "We are the Smartie Jolly Musketeers!" Smartie Jolly Musketeers is our class name. This class name that my students created on the first week of school describes them 100%. We strive for the best and encourage one another.
My Project
At the start of the school year my students read a short version of The Great Serum Race and LOVED IT! I would love the opportunity to give my future students the opportunity to read the entire story of The Great Serum Race: Blazing the Iditarod Trail. This story kind of relates to what the world is going through currently with Covid-19.
The book is a wonderful story about history and how teams of men and their dogs risked everything to save a town.
These books will help me provide my students with rich history content in a heroic manner. Students enjoy reading books as a class and the ability to collaborate about the book. These books will be treated with love and care for many years to come.
