This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a Title I, First Step Pre-Kindergarten center in Newport News. We are the largest in the area. Our school accepts students that are identified as academically high risk and we provide school readiness activities for 4 and 5-year-old children in full-day programs.
Most of our students come from low-income households.
Every child receives free breakfast and lunch meal each day. We have 18 intelligent, curious, and eager-to-learn students in our classroom from diverse backgrounds who will benefit greatly from any support given through DonorsChoose.org projects.
My Project
Kids love books, PreK kids love books that are fast and easy to read to them. They need books to capture their attention immediately. Many of the Creative Curriculum books are just the opposite. Books in the curriculum are very long and becoming boring to the kids.
Reading is in every part of our prek day!
We want books in our class that is inviting and not wordy. We want books that the students will go to over and over. We want books that are bright with wonderful illustrations. Please help us to get books that fit into all parts of our prek day.
