Our students are from an economically disadvantage area. All receive free and reduced lunch. We have over 100 students that receive reading, math, and/or social-emotional learning interventions.
The parents in our community try to participate in the school but have to work long hours or more than one job to support their students.
These families need support to become successful in education. We are the first step to the economic freedom for the students futures. We all need to help stop poverty in our country
My Project
These magazines will expose my students to more of the world. It will help them see other things that they may have no knowledge of yet. This exposure will open a whole new world to the kids. It will give them connections to world and self.
Exposing kids to the current event of our world will help them gain understanding that things are not always as they seem.
We can help these students pull away from the poverty and/or situations that they face and realize there are a plethora of opportunities awaiting them. I hope that this reading will begin this process for our students.
