Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school houses students who come from struggling but hard-working families. Income levels, as well as education levels, are low. They all share a rich heritage in their culture. It is rewarding to work with them because our efforts produce results.

My students are growing and developing readers.

Many of them currently are well below their grade level. It is also common to find many who have not yet discovered the joy of reading.

Throughout the course of the school year, most of these students will improve two and three grade levels in their reading skills. They love the discovery that occurs when new horizons to education and life are opened to them. It is a rewarding experience to see them learn and grow into responsible students.

My Project

The students who will read these books will find that they enjoy reading as they develop their reading abilities. Everyone loves to witness when a child discovers a new world at their fingertips.

Many of these students are on the cusp of gaining proficiency at their current grade reading level.

Our goal is to emphasize the need for volume in reading as well as depth of understanding.

The value of these books will increase as each one is passed on from one hand to another. This is an investment in the success and future of young people who will, in turn, repay their debt of education to their children and create a compounding effect.
