They are on a variety of levels and come from a variety of family situations and socioeconomic backgrounds.
The majority of them are on free or reduced lunch.
As the year progresses and I watch students grow, I get excited and love to share the news with their parents. I also am able to see more independence in these children.
By the end of the year I have grown with them so much and hate to send them out of my classroom. However, I know I have become stronger and they have become stronger during the past 180 days that I have them.
My Project
I lost my 19 year old son on November 4, 2019. He had a seizure during the night. He rolled off of his bed and was caught between his TV stand and his bed which caused him to not be able to breathe. I would like to honor his memory with the project because he loved to help me pick out books for my class.
I would like to help the students start their own personal library with books that they write as well as a variety of good literature.
This way the students could become owners of books, and they have the chance to become stronger readers.
Each month students will receive a book for their personal libraries. I will give a book talk about the book. By December students will begin making book talks. I will plan my lessons for the books according to the learning standards.
My classroom theme is "Reading Is Succeeding"! This was part of a billboard that I saw when I went to pick up my son from college. Please help me through a donation to my project.
