Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students that I teach have yet to reach their grade level reading standard. Each child has their own personal reading goal that I progress monitor weekly. My students vary in ability and it my job to place them with other kids who need to be taught the same skill.
I am an Elementary school Interventionist.
I teach 35 students each morning ranging in ages from kindergarten to the 4th grade. My groups range in size from four to six Students. My primary focus is to increase phonics, phonemic ability, letter sounds, letter recognition and reading Fluency.
My Project
Introducing a classroom set of books to my struggling readers will be the key to wanting to read! The books purchased with be used on a daily basis to build fluency and to bring our struggling readers up to their potential and grade level. My kindergarten and 1st grade students will use the sight word books each day.
This project will allow my 2nd graders the joy of using books that are at their reading level.
Reading encourages and to builds up confidence. I always tell my students, that I not only want them to be successful but that I want them to feel successful.
