Reading Spanish and Learning About Culture in Different Countries

My Students

My classes are very special. In my class I focus on the Five C's of foreign language. Most of the time we are working on communication. I focus on helping the student take an idea in their head and and use words in Spanish to share and express their idea to another students so that the second student has the same idea in their head. We talk Spanish in class, and in the community we identify and enjoy Spanish where we find it spoken.

My Project

Spanish reader guides are a great resource for my Spanish classes. I have a mix of Spanish speakers and beginners. The fluent Spanish speakers need a lot of help reading and spelling. The beginners benefit greatly from listening, and reading with the fluent speakers as they read the stories to each other. The Spanish speakers help in pronunciation so the beginners sound like they are from another country. Using the target language in class forces and helps the beginners.

Having Fluent Spanish speakers work with beginning students help increase the speed of learning Spanish faster than regular textbooks.

Both the fluent speakers and beginners learn together. It is amazing when one student helps another student succeed.
