My Students
Amazing is the word that comes to mind when describe the students that I get to learn with each day. I work with about 30 students a day from k- 5th grade that need help with reading. I work with these students by providing reading support through reading interventions. Stability comes from the school for many of my students, because home may not always a place of consistency. Many of my students come from single family homes, grandparents are taking on the role of mom and dad and many of my students don't know where their next meal is coming from.
No matter the struggles my students face they are all fearless, inquisitive and enthusiastic learners.
They have a drive to know more and grow each passing day.
My Project
Learning to read can be very challenging. Listening to stories helps enrich children's multi-sensory experience with literature, words come alive. Using headphones with my students will provide support for struggling readers. My students will be able to listen to stories in a fluid an expressive way. Giving my students the opportunity to listen to stories will help them to develop new vocabulary as well as understand the various ways language conveys meaning.
