Help me give my students new books, that include some all time favorites, some that help teach kindness and that everyone is important, and some that are a spin on the "old classics".
I am excited to be providing educational experiences to at-risk four and five year-old children in a free pre-kindergarten classroom. These kiddos are creative, curious, and eager to learn. Many of our students are overcoming odds, as all of our students come from low-income households, and many come from traumatic backgrounds.
We strive to provide opportunities that our at-risk students may not otherwise have, or be able to enjoy.
We are eager to create life-long learners, through thoughtful instruction, and materials, both in our indoor and outdoor classrooms.
My Project
Pre-kindergartners love to be read to. We have also found that pre-kindergartners learn a lot, while being read to. Due to this fact, we would like to add some new books that teach about kindness, and some that relay the message that everyone is special. We would also like to add some that we know are favorites (that we do not currently have copies of in our room), and some that are new versions of the "old classics" (what better way to compare and contrast).
Our at-risk students love to be read to, and these books will not only allow us to read to them, but will allow us to teach them, while they are enjoying one of their favorite activities.
