My kindergarten classroom is desperately in need of a new rug. We currently have large foam puzzle pieces put together as a rug. This rug can be quite distracting for some students as it is full of pencil holes and the students tend to pull them apart as they are sitting on the rug.
I teach at a Title One school where the majority of my students come from low income households.
We have a high number of students who are on free or reduced lunch. Many of my students are raised in single parent households. My students have so much potential, and I want to create a safe and happy place for them to learn and succeed.
My Project
The rug that I am requesting will enable my students to have their own designated space during whole group times. We meet on the rug many times throughout the day (morning meeting, story time, whole group instruction, etc). Having a rug that is in one solid piece will eliminate the option for the students to pull the pieces apart, as some of them do now with the puzzle piece rug. Not to mention, what a fun and colorful centerpiece this will create for my classroom!
My students deserve the best and I believe this rug will help them achieve it.
They need a comfortable place to sit and learn. This bright, colorful rug will be a wonderful place for my kiddos to learn and grow.
