My students need a classroom carpet in order to enjoy an optional area for sitting during library time.
This project expired on December 22, 2015.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Each day my library is filled with approximately 125 students from kindergarten through fifth grade. I am actively striving to build a safe, fun, learning filled environment that builds a love for reading, research and the positive use of technology.
My school is made up of around 800 students from grades kindergarten through grades five coming from various socioeconomic backgrounds.
We are a Title 1 school receiving funds based on the percentage of students receiving free and reduced meals. My library program is currently being revamped with an emphasis on balanced reading of fiction and non-fiction texts, the research process, and appropriate use of technology for a variety of purposes.
This classroom carpet will provide students with a seating option versus sitting on the floor or in their seats while checking in and out books. They will also be able to sit on carpet and listen during story time, sit and read during silent reading and sit with a partner and read during partner reading time.
This classroom carpet will set the tone for the learning environment I am attempting to create.
Students are excited about the changes that have taken place thus far and will be thrilled with this colorful addition.
