Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine loving something, but not being able to have it? My first graders love to read, but can't practice at home because they don't have books. I want to provide my students with books they can check out, take home, and read to their families. I know my students will become better readers.

My students are fluent Spanish speakers who are learning English.

100% of my students are on free and reduced lunch, and attend a Title I school. My students have hard working parents who can't provide them with things beyond their basic necessities. My students don't ask for much, but one thing I know is that they love to read. I want to instill a love of learning in my students and want them to see bright futures ahead, with college in the distance.

My Project

I am requesting bilingual books for our classroom library. I would love to send home these new books with my students so their parents can see their passion for reading. These books will provide my students with the opportunity to practice reading at home with their families. With these books, my students will be able to gain knowledge, information, and more fuel for learning. Reading at school and practicing at home will allow my students to build fluency and sound like storytellers.

This project is so important because my students need these new books.

Our classroom library needs an update, and my students need books to read at home. Providing my students with books will allow them to have a vast amount of knowledge to pour in, and will allow them to become readers that surpass the required end of year grade level. Please help our cause; reading is the key to the future.
