I have an amazing group of students this school year! It is my first year as a teacher and so far they have made it a great experience. They are eager to please and always participate in class discussions. The students have diverse backgrounds and constantly learn things from one another while remaining respectful and accepting. I have learned so much from them already and cannot wait to see where the rest of the year takes us. I know my class will continue to be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn.
Currently, my students do not have a way to keep all of their books together during read to self. In my class, I allow students to sit anywhere in the room to read.
As of now, students are having to juggle their books to and from their areas or even get up and down during read to self time (which is not ideal for building reading stamina).
We also have a very small classroom that we like to keep organized, currently students keep library and classroom library books in their back packs and cubbies which tends to become a little chaotic.
If we have the book boxes, students will be able to fill them with books of their choosing, find a spot in the room, stay put, and build stamina during read to self. If we have the storage cart for these book boxes, the students will know exactly where their books are at all times!
