Help me give my students diverse children literature and books to help foster a love of reading, teach acceptance of human diversity, and to encourage them to embrace culture.
I am a third grade inclusion teacher who teaches a fabulous group of diverse students. My students all differ in ethnicities, race, socioeconomic backgrounds, culture, gender, abilities, and motives. Each student brings something unique to the classroom and always brings a smile to my face. A goal of mine is to create a warm and welcoming classroom that is safe for all my students to grow and learn. From the beginning of the year, I focus on building a strong relationship with students based on respect and understanding because in my classroom we are "TEAM ROOFE" and we strive to help one another and be kind to all. I'm so thankful for my students because not only are they learning from me, but I am learning from them.
My Project
As a teacher and a lifelong learner, it is important for me to help foster a love of reading for students. Reading helps take children to different places without having to actually travel. With a classroom library that is filled with engaging and diverse children literature, I can accomplish my goal. Diverse books will help me to teach acceptance of human diversity and to encourage students to embrace culture. I can use them as read alouds and implement them into lessons, too. This will help create a culture of respect and acceptance into my classroom. Thank you for supporting my 3rd grade reading rockstars! It is truly appreciated!
