I am a new teacher to my present school as I just transferred counties. I came into this class about 3 weeks into school. They were a very quiet well-mannered class. They transitioned beautifully from a substitute teacher to a permanent teacher. I was more nervous then they were. Since coming aboard their little personalities have come alive! They are one of the most sweet, caring group of kids I have ever had. They all look out for each other and help those that may need a little extra support. This is simply phenomenal for this age group.
They love to dance and enjoy listening and engaging in books that are read aloud.
Other teachers have witnessed some of the kids singing songs we have learned in class in other areas of the school. They are a curious group of kids and consistently ask questions about subjects and unknown words in books. They are so eager to learn!
I am wanting to complete my set of reading center activities. The students have become engaged in previously purchased materials very similar to the ones I am asking for this time. The Match and Sort Quickies are easy for volunteers to use when working with the students as well. They are simple and effective tools to increase student achievement in all 5 areas of reading.
Match and Sort Quickies lend themselves to working in small groups either child led or teacher led.
When the students work in small groups they are able to learn valuable skills when it comes to working together. I enjoy watching the students engage with each other respectfully.
