My students need a cozy place to sit and read in our book nook.

FATE is a quaint little school in a neighborhood that feels like a small town in a big city.
The classes are small and everyone is treated like family. The majority of students come from low-income households and have limited resources, yet we have an extremely active PTA. We take great pride in the level of parental involvement at FATE. I will be moving up from Pre-K into Kindergarten and will leave behind my bright and busy classroom. I am moving into a classroom with many materials, but with limited furnishings. I am unable to bring any with me from my current classroom. I would like to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in my new classroom with cute and cozy centers, but need some help.
I would love for my students to have a kid-friendly book nook where they can sit and read with their friends. I would like for it to feel like a little living room with a small couch, chairs, and soft lighting. In the book nook, students can select fiction and non-fiction books to read during independent centers or if they need a quiet break. The book nook will house our listening station as well. At the listening station, students will be able to listen to books that have been uploaded to iPods and to podcasts of their parents reading to them. The center should accommodate 3-4 students.
I believe that if students feel like the book nook is an exciting part of the classroom, then reading will feel special.
Kindergarten is where students not only learn to sound out words and develop fluency, but where they also learn to associate reading with positive experiences and develop a love for books. I want them to see themselves in books, feel a connection to their families, learn about the experiences and cultures of others, and to share what they've learned with their friends.
