This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are second graders from New Orleans. The students are eager to learn but need the necessary materials to practice daily and make learning fun. Upon leaving my class I would like for all my students to love learning.
My students range from ages 7 to 8 years old.
Their parents are natives of New Orleans but they were born in other states due to Hurricane Katrina. Our school is located in the Heavily Destroyed area of New Orleans. The school was renovated in 2008 and the students piled in as they were eager to learn!
My Project
My students will practice reading and writing daily in the Comprehension Journals that I requested. The students will also be able to reinforce writing skills that they have learned using the Writing Center Activities. By allowing the students to practice reading and writing daily it will allow the students to become more fluent in Reading. It will also prepare the students for the upcoming grade. I am also requesting privacy covers which will allow the students to practice reading fluency without being disturbed. My students also need to practice reading and math. I am requesting materials that teach students using the Common Core standards.
By giving to this project you will give students the opportunity to open all doors.
Allowing the students to become better readers will help them improve in all subject areas. Readers always Succeed!
