Help me give my students reading centers and resources to become early readers!

"Where are you headed? College! Will you succeed? YES! When you succeed, what will you do? Change history and give back to my community!" This is the chant that our fabulous scholars recite as they exit dismissal and head eagerly back to class to learn! They say it with conviction and I believe them 100%.
My scholars face unimaginable challenges but are working hard daily to change their own story as well as the history of their community!
My scholars work hard and play hard! Every day we work to not only learn reading, writing and mathematics but also to become creative thinkers, problem solvers and productive members of our community!
I teach in a high needs public school in Milwaukee where a very small percentage of our scholars are on grade level in reading or math and 100% of our scholars receive free breakfast and lunch daily.
"See a book, grab a book, read a book -- AYEEEE!" This is one of our scholars favorite cheers at our weekly assembly. But, when one of my first graders looked at me after assembly this year and said "Ms. Kruse I how can I do that when I can't read?" I knew we needed to change the narrative for these scholars, and quickly! Fast forward to winter and we have several volunteers in our classroom weekly to help provide extra support and for my non-readers as they build their reading skills!
Readers today, leaders tomorrow!
We need some basic reading skill centers and materials to help us have high quality learning materials available for our volunteers to use with our scholars weekly in order to help get these first graders to grade level in reading. These centers and writing materials will help ensure that all of my scholars are provided with the differentiated reading materials that they need to be successful in school this year and beyond.
