I am a reading interventionist and spend half my day teaching Reading Recovery at a small Title I school on a rural South Carolina barrier island. Many of our students' parents, and even some grandparents and great-grandparents, attended this same elementary school.
My students are delightful, energetic children who are learning to love books and reading.
They are amazingly hard workers and are moving toward reading independence. This island is small, but they are beginning to have more of a world view through reading!
My Project
I need more books for my Reading Recovery library and to use in my intervention groups. The books we currently use have been used by many other students in the past. These books will be "shiny and new" and my students will be thrilled to have some new choices.
I want my students to be able to take extra books home on weekends to read with their families and this set will provide new books for them to do just that.
My main goal is to foster a love for reading in my students and to help them become life-long readers in the process.
