Help me give my students the materials (giant alphabet beads, alphabet learning locks, and snap sight words) they need to learn reading readiness skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a high poverty school in a Moderate and Severe Disabilities (MSD) self-contained classroom. My students have various disabilities (e.g., autism, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities) that create difficulties in their daily lives. Despite many hardships, my students come to school ready to learn each day.
My students require a lot of educational supports but are capable of so much, and they are working hard each day to find new and creative ways to learn academic standards and daily life skills.
My students love to dance, sing, go outside, and play on the computer.
My Project
This project will help provide my students with fun, engaging, and hands on activities that will help promote reading readiness skills.
Reading is such and important skill to have in order to be independent in today’s society.
My students learn best when they have highly engaging activities and are able to practice their skills multiple times. These activities will help keep the interest of my students while teaching them things such as reading identification, sight word identification, phonic skills, and much more! Please help me provide my students the materials they need in order to learn all that they possibly can!
