I come to school each day to see 22 smiling transitional kindergartner faces. Our school is located in the heart of San Francisco's South of Market District. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 60% of our students receiving free lunch.
My students are eager to learn, laugh, and play.
They use their creative and imaginative minds each day at school. We build a community with wooden blocks, a train with Magna-tiles, cook feasts in the dramatic play area, and paint pictures with watercolors.
My students need their own reading phones to help them listen to their own voices as they read. These reading phones will be made with PVC pipes! I currently have one reading phone that 22 students share but they would love to have their own.
My students love picture books!
"Interrupting Chicken" and " Tattle Tongue" are both engaging, funny, and relatable books for my kids. These books teach students to not interrupt when someone is talking and the difference between tattling and telling. I hope to read this book at the beginning of next school year. I'm so excited!
