I have an amazing group of 24 caring, inquisitive and very energetic first graders. Throughout our day we can be mathematicians, engineers, writers, readers and scientists! I try and support the unique learning style of of each student and believe that if they feel comfortable in our classroom they will be able to grow and learn in amazing ways.

Students relish the opportunity to choose their own learning space. By allowing students to make choices in how they approach different activities at school they learn to self-regulate, take responsibility for their learning and becoming more confident learners.

Books like Oranges to Orange Juice and Wax to Crayons will help students learn how to write their own procedural texts using a beautifully illustrated mentor text. A book like The Sleepy Seed will engage students and illustrate how to use their prior knowledge to write their own How To's!
