Help me give my students the ability to flourish in their classroom! The books will give them the motivation they need to read, and the wobble chairs will give students more flexible seating opportunities.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Ms. D, can I stay in your class next year?" is what my students said at the end of last year. Of course I asked why! They mentioned the activities during our workshop and how memorable it was to have a sense of autonomy. They went on about the flexible seating, our new books and all the workstations. As I move into my second year of fourth grade, I want to be able to cultivate the same response. In these first few weeks I have come to learn so much about my new group of students.
They are not only incredibly brilliant and smart, but they bring their own splash of diversity into the classroom.
We are a Title I school that comes from a predominantly low socioeconomic background, but students still find the strength to persevere through all the adversity they experience.
My Project
Last year DonorsChoose was able to help me fund a few wobble chairs into the classroom. My students loved them so much that I am eager to provide my students with more flexible seating opportunities. They get to use them during instructional time, workstation, and during guided reading with me. Even my most wiggly fourth graders find some sense of comfort as they read a book or finish up an activity.
My students LOVED the books we were able to get funded last year with Donors Choose.
This year it is my mission to provide more books that are both high interest, but also reading level appropriate. The books that I have chosen will support students' motivation in reading. Additionally, as we have now moved into the second year of our new curriculum we are focusing more on small group instruction. I have included reading games to help support the skills and strategies students are learning in class. My students loved the science "Can Do" games from last year. They are incredibly engaged and enjoy playing the games with their classmates.
I am also requesting a book on how to teach students to become better readers. This will ultimately help me support my students when I reach them in small groups. Within my project I included some small items like the privacy partitioners and book bins. These items will support the books we will be receiving, as well as the increase in students this year.
