Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach creative, energetic, and inquisitive students. My students come from diverse backgrounds and many of them are from low economic homes. I love providing a vast amount of activities that promote learning in the classroom, but due to budget cuts resources are limited. I would like to have more academic board games that enhance higher-order thinking skills, literacy, vocabulary, and history in the classroom. Even though my students were faced with the devastating effects of "Hurricane Harvey" they remain positive, productive and eager to learn.
My Project
The addition of headphones to my classroom will allow the students to clearly hear and listen to the academic materials provided through technology to enhance their reading skills and listening skills. The variety of literature that stems from different cultures and ideas will open the minds creative minds of my students. My struggling readers will be able to listen to stories or practice listening to audio conversations to boost their listening and speaking confidence. I know that some students may not be able to be exposed to different cultural experiences so I would like to provide those opportunities through text.
