This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are not limited by the challenges they face in and out of the classroom.
My students are an amazing group of third graders who are eager to learn and explore.
They are living a growth-mindset philosophy, embracing the new learning experiences and challenges and are ready to stretch and grow their brain muscles. Children are like sponges, ready to soak up everything. It is my pleasure and duty to help shape their precious minds to love learning and be successful.
My Project
As we all know kids are learning more online and at home than in the classroom. With that, many students do not have access to a variety of books on their level. Our district provided an online platform that only allows students to read until 4pm. In the past we had a wonderful site called Raz-Kids, it was amazing and the children thrived using it.
I would like to give my children access to this website filled with hundreds of fun, fiction, nonfiction, and leveled books that are also printable!
Each book from level A and up has three parts. First the book is read to the child highlighting each word, then the child reads it, then takes a quick quiz for comprehension. I can also assign books to each child for our guided reading group. This will be a win win for my students!
