This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school in Georgia where all students receive free lunch. Many come from single-parent homes with little to no internet access. Some receive backpacks of food on the weekends. Many live below the national poverty level. But that is not who they are.
I have a class full of dreamers who know there are no limitations on what they can achieve.
We are a school that believes knowledge is power and our best is the standard.
My Project
With to use of this collection of books in our classroom, focused on diversity will help my students connect with other cultures and traditions from around the world. By taking this adventure across the world, my students can learn and connect with others that may or may not look and live like themselves.
Through the use of words and pictures, my students can learn and experience that we are more alike than different.
By being exposed to our differences, I hope my students can find the strings of acceptance that bind us together. Help us read and reach across rainbows.
