I teach a diverse group of gifted and talented students. My students are creative and critical thinkers. These students are problem solvers and leaders in their classrooms.
These gifted students are from three inner city elementary schools, and more than 75% are living in poverty.
This group includes students from many cultural backgrounds and many speak more than one language.
All of these learners are identified gifted based on set criteria. They love to learn, they love to question and they love to dream of their futures!
Students this year have learned RESILIENCE in their home and school lives. This fall I will assemble a 4th and 5th grade book club centered around the theme of resilience. All 12 books that the students will read involve characters who have overcome large obstacles, and have persevered to greatness! This resilient attitude is within every student after a year of remote learning.
Our book club will read and explore the resilience of others, and reflect and compare our individual obstacles that we have overcome!
Students will make connections and enjoy their love of reading.
