This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I may be biased, but I must say that I have the BEST second graders on Earth! My Cupcakes are eager to learn, are team players who are willing to help each other (and me!), and are constantly looking for a challenge!
In our classroom, "Practice always makes PROGRESS!" Striving for perfection is a lot of pressure on little ones and sets one up for failure; but, the concept of progress lends to confidence-building and goal-setting.
We know that the more we dig in and practice, the better we become with our skills.
My daily goal is to create opportunities for continual progress in a nurturing and fun environment.
My Project
One of my favorite sayings is “Life is for living!” And while my Second Graders might not be able to hop a flight or sail the Ocean Blue just get, they CAN escape into a fabulous book and travel to distant lands, explore history, and stretch their imaginations. Since there’s nothing like forgetting the troubles of the world and curling up with a book, I want to set my classroom up with a space for my scholars to be able to do just that! With a comfortable classroom library and reading space, my Cupcakes will be delving into the Wonderful World of Literature from the first day of school!
