Our school is a charter school from grades K-12; we are a STEM focused school. Fifth grade is my favorite group of students to teach! They are independent but still love to learn and engage in the classroom. I teach in a very close-knit community of mostly Mexican American heritage/background. All my students are bilingual and come from large lower income families. My students have diverse needs and abilities in the classroom. Each student despite their circumstances strives to succeed in school and life!
Every students deserves a a comfy place to read! A rug will dedicate a reading areaand help students transition to reading time. The giant pillows will help the students comfortable sit on the floor for those who can’t sit directly on floor. The smaller pillows will add comfort and tranquility to the space with its calming colors! Within my classroom students have dedicated silent reading in small groups this project will help students transition from their other center work to reading silently. A dedicated reading space will convey to students that reading should be valued with a space that says come relax and read your favorite book!
