Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want my students to be exposed to many types of literature. The newsletters will expand their world. They include science and social studies. The newsletters come with interactive videos on the computer. It will enable the students to experience things beyond the classroom and the community.

There are 29 students in the class.

The majority of the students do not have books or newspapers in their home. They are eager to learn and really enjoy being able to take reading material home to share with their families. I want all my students to desire to become life long learners.

My Project

My students need Scholastic News to increase fluency and have reading material to take home. The students will be reading both fiction and non-fiction items in the newspapers. They will be reading about things that support what is being taught in the classroom. The newspapers include science and social studies and are kept current. It will increase their knowledge of the world around them. They will support math and language arts also.

The newsletters will empower the students.

They will have the feeling of ownership. It will expand their knowledge of the world. It will take them outside their community and give them a broader outlook on things in the world.
