My students need non-fiction books to add to our library. This will enable them to read a variety of interesting books on their level.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is located in a low-income area where many of the students qualify for either reduced or free lunch. The students at my school do not come from a lot. The families do not always have the resources or the money to provide their children with everything that they need to flourish in school. Despite all this, my students have a desire to be successful. My students love being at school and love to learn!
I am building readers for life in first grade.
My Project
Many of the students in my classroom struggle in the area of reading, with being on grade-level and with enjoying this activity. The students in my classroom have already been blessed with a leveled-library that is filled with many fictional books.
However, there are currently NO non-fictional leveled books for them to read.
With the addition of non-fiction books to our leveled library, the students in my classroom will be able to choose their own books from a wider variety of materials. They will also be able to read non-fiction texts and build upon the skills that they learn to become better readers.
