Help me give my students items they can use to succeed in class! They love the book series by Dan Gutman. We have been studying solid figures. The kit would help them build the shapes they are learning.
I teach 2 classes of second graders. They range in age from 7-8 years old. They are very inquisitive. I try to do a lot of hands-on activities and make things to help them remember what we are learning.
I love watching them as they create the projects.
It brings the unit a little more to life on their level. They are able to see and touch what we are learning about. It helps them make a connection to everyday life.
My Project
My students love reading the book series from Dan Gutman. The books are entertaining and gets kids excited to read. The few books I do have are constantly leaving my bookshelf.
The students have been learning about geometric figures.
The kit and activities I have chosen will help them build the figures they see in the book. It will bring them to life much easier.
I also asked for a touchless thermometer. At the beginning of the year we are given plastic disposable thermometers to check students' temperatures before sending to the nurse. Unfortunately, these don't always read correctly. It would be nice to have a working thermometer that can read, but not touch a head.
