My students are kind-hearted, thoughtful, and creative. They come from a community that is filled with poverty and hardships. Despite all of that, they come to school with such joy and excitement. They are eager to learn through hand-on exploration. Their love of reading new and exciting pictures books is unwavering. I love watching them use funny voices when they reread the picture books that I had read to the class earlier. They can work wonders with our classroom technology. Just when I think I know what I am doing with some type of technology, they go and teach me something new. They are truly fearless when it comes to learning new things!
We are a family of friends that work together everyday to learn something new.
In our class, we are not afraid to fail. My students know that we can learn so much through trial and error. We know we will love and support one another no matter what. I am blessed with such incredible little humans to spend my days learning.
My Project
The students will have so much fun reading these engaging books. These books have a strong message the students can learn. They will help bring to life the relatable situations that the students encounter during their everyday life and how to problem solve. These books will be used in a variety of ways. We will first explore them as a teacher read-aloud. Then, they will go into the students library. This is where these stories can be read over and over again by the students. The books will help the students learn how to use voice in their reading as well as become more independent readers.
These books will help strengthen my students love for reading.
The more the students enjoy these books; the more they will want to continue to read. Thus, building a strong foundation for loving books and the places they can take them as readers. My students crave new and excited picture books that they have not yet experienced. These books are new to me as well as them. We cannot wait to dive into these new picture books!
