This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Currently there are 18 students I have the pleasure of teaching and learning from. I strive each day to provide a fun learning environment so that the students can enjoy being at school. This can be a challenge with all the different learning styles and needed differentiation in the lesson.
I teach students who go to a Title One school and many come from low income families.
They are hard working students who don't have access to a variety of resources, including technology to facilitate their learning. My students are enthusiastic learners who enjoy coming to school.
Each day I like to help them strive to reach their full potential.
I believe in my students and constantly tell them to believe in their selves.
My Project
My students are in 9th grade but many are reading on an Elementary level. This causes them to struggle in the classroom. I want them to be successful and to enjoy reading. I am requesting resource books that are on their level but that will help them grow in the classroom. We are a title I school, so many of my students don't have the access to materials outside the classroom that will help them succeed as students.
I want my students to know that they can learn anything they put their mind to, It may take longer for them but they can achieve it.
I want them to be successful and prosper. I want them to show growth at the end of the year as well. The resource books will allow me to provide them with the subjects and topics they are struggling with. They are low readers and lack the skills they need to be prosperous in 9th grade and beyond. The Reading Comprehension Interactive Whiteboard lessons will allow me to work with them whole group as they become superior readers.
I want my students to appreciate and connect to their reading, as well as mastering the skills needed be the excellent scholars they are. These resources will be a tremendous help very much appreciated.
