When you walk in our classroom, you would encounter 30 energetic, enthusiastic, hard-working kindergartners ready to learn. Our school has a student population that includes 67% of students who receive free/reduced price lunch and 17% of students who are English Language Learners.
In my classroom, I have a diverse group of students including English Language Learners and three different home languages represented.
The students and I work hard to create a safe, friendly classroom environment that is inclusive of a diverse group of learners.
Books in the hands of young readers? Yes! I can only imagine how excited my students will be as they take home a collection of Clifford books throughout the school year. The collection of books will be sent home on special days throughout the school year, such as the day of a field trip or the day before winter break. The children can keep the books at home to begin, or enhance, a home library for students.
The more children are exposed to stories, the more likely reading will become an everyday part of their life.
I am hoping to spark a love of reading by providing meaningful literacy experiences for young children. Please help make the world BIG by putting books in the hands of young children.
