My Students
This is my third year teaching and my second year teaching first grader. My classroom continues being filled with laughter, a genuine community of thinkers, and eager kiddos wanting to learn. In our class, we know that despite what may be happening outside, it will not determine our day or our learning. Every day is a new day.
I teach at a Title I school in Florida where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite the many obstacles my students face they still want to succeed in school, do their best, and persevere. My students typically start the year below grade level and with grit, they put effort to achieve growth throughout the school year. Their effort shows that they want to be in school to continue a successful path. Our classroom is a community belonging to all of us.
My Project
The items I am requesting for our classroom will cultivate a better environment for reading. The goal is to build our classroom to be a safe space where students want to learn.
A listening center will engage all students and various levels of readers!
Helping my kiddos learn that reading is fun encourages better readers. The metal listening center includes a Portable CD Player, 4 adjustable headphones and a junction box with volume controls. There’s even designated space for the read-along books and CDs! Also, getting their ears and hands on a listening center with audiobooks will help my students master the skill of listening while reading the books in hand!
