Reading Made Fun

My students need literacy games to improve their vocabulary and flexible seating for reading groups.

My Students

My students come from various economic backgrounds. Many of our students struggle with reading comprehension and do not have Internet at home. We have a wonderful, new literacy program but students need computer and Internet access to be able to use it.

We are near a military base, so many of our students are from military families.

We have a high, special needs population. These students need additional support. We have students reading below grade level that need encouragement to keep working on improving those reading skills.

My Project

Many of my students read below grade level. We need some exciting games to help improve their vocabulary. The games can be rotated between all of the reading classes in our school. Learning needs to be fun as well as effective.

Finding engaging ways to improve literacy is my goal.

This would allow students to sit in a reading nook and to have engaging games to play in groups. Choice in seating and grouping would help foster a better learning environment.
