I teach first grade at Burgaw Elementary school in North Carolina. We are a Title 1 school which means that we serve a low income population. 73% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We are a rural community and live in a low tax based county. I am asking for the Complete Set of Basic Skills Puzzles. The puzzles promote reading through the use of phonics, the recognition of word shapes, and picture clues. The set includes synonyms, analogies, homophones, opposites, homonyms, rhyming words, compound words, irregular plural nouns, consonant blends, alphabet blends, and silent consonants. I feel very strongly that skills are learned and reinforced when learning is made fun. I will have this year's students again next year in second grade. I will loop up with them and I will continue to use the puzzle kit next year as well. Because it contains a wide variety of skills and learning levels, the puzzle kit will allow for all of my students to be successful. First grade is when the students really begin to read and I know my students would benefit greatly from the puzzles. Thank you!
