Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a group of fun-loving kids who want to learn! Many of my students are English Language Learners and have limited exposure to English at home, so as their teacher it is my responsibility to expose them to as much as possible. My school has limited resources and we work hard to provide as much for our students as possible.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela.
This is what my school is all about. We try to give our students all of the knowledge we can, however we can so that they are able to continue and grow into amazing young people who will change the world.
My Project
Spanish is the primary language that my students read and write in. These books will help support them in their learning for the many units of study in reading and writing. These books will give them access to information that they normally do not have access to because of the language barrier.
By giving students access to information in their native language, a whole new world is opened up for them.
These Spanish books are so important to my students because it makes them feel important and equal to their classmates. Many times they are not able to do the same quality of work or participate in discussions the same way the rest of the students are because they do not always understand the English text but with these books, they will be able to participate the same way as their classmates.
