Help me give my students books to read while they are at home in E-Learning and on summer break. These books will be dropped off and picked up from my students homes!
Students at my school are low-income and have been thrown into the deep trenches of E-Learning through this COVID pandemic. As a teacher we have been provided with our school laptops and must create our own resources and E-Classrooms on our own.
The COVID Pademic is filled with a lot of unknowns and uncertainity, my students need support for this time.
Some students have no support and are completing all assignments on their own, many others have parents who work full time in an essential role and are unable to provide the support needed. Our school has offered laptops for any student who does not have a device at home and paper packets for those who have no internet access. Beyond that students need supplies, reading material and so much more that they do not have at home.
As a teacher it has always been my job to bridge that gap for students and offer a safe and supportive environment for them. The COVID Pademic has only increased this need for my students!
My Project
While many of my books are in my school, I only was able to bring home one crate of books to provide students reading material. Through this donors choose project I will have the opportunity to increase my new E-Learning library. Students have the opportunity to sign up to borrow a book from my E-Learning library and once a week I will make home deliveries dropping them off on my students front porch.
Many of my students have no books at home and are desperate for the opportunity to have books delivered.
Our local libraries are closed and many of them are at a higher reading level than free websites offer books.
The books I have selected are part of next years Young Hoosier and Rosies lists in Indiana, allowing them to get a head start for next school year. In addition they are books that are related to peers their own age and life changes they have gone through.
