“See the world through the eyes of your inner child. The eyes that sparkle in awe and amazement as they see love, magic and mystery in the most ordinary things.” ― Henna Sohail
Despite intellectual, physical and even emotional challenges, every day is a good day for my students.
Their energy is contagious! Over the years what they have taught me is that happiness is a choice, there is always a reason to smile and the best things in life are indeed the little things.
Currently I service 20 students, in groups of no more than five, for Reading intervention. My classroom essentially consists of a small square table for student seating and a bookshelf.
My students enjoy the interactive activities we practice while learning our letter sounds and reading strategies.
However, seating at the small square table does not efficiently promote small group engagement. During intervention there is a great deal of modeling involved. Also, as the students practice, it is equally important for me to see and hear them for error correction. This would be most appropriately done with seating around a horseshoe table as opposed to me walking around a square table to ensure that each student is able to adequately see and hear the model. This horseshoe table also has enough depth to allow adequate work space for each student when pencil and paper tasks are required.
