Reading is the Center of a Writers Life-Stephen King
My students need materials such as stamps, molds, and play-doh to help with crucial kindergarten skills! (sight words, name recognition, and alphabet mastery, and helping with letter sounds)
I am lucky enough to spend my days with eighteen five and six -year-old children who are full of energy and wonder. I hope to provide them with a love for learning which will inspire them to do what they think is the impossible!
Our school district is in a rural community and is struggling terribly financially.
Please take a moment to see if you can help enhance my the learning experience of my sweet kindergarteners. I am looking to bring authentic and fun centers into our classroom to inspire students and foster their love for learning!
Each month I create differentiated center activities for students to independently practice skills we have learned in our classroom. As any parent knows, the attention span of a five year old is very short! I am always trying to find new and inventive ways to reinforce the concepts that are taught in my classroom! Learning should be fun and I want so desperately to keep it that way despite the ever changing standards and responsibility that my students must have!
My Project
My students need supplies for activities that focus on the alphabet, letter recognition, and writing to explore with at Learning Center time. My students will use these materials to explore their ability through building, making letters and sounds, and words! These activities will be used during Learning Center times throughout the day as we read and write while learning together. They will be able to use these to help learning letters and sounds as they make words. Your generous donation to our project will improve our Kindergarten classroom by building a stronger reader and writer.
The items I am asking for will be used during center time.
This is a time where students are independently working on concepts learned in our classroom. In kindergarten building a strong foundation in letter and letter sounds allows for students to become more fluent readers. I am asking for numerous alphabet items such as silicone molds for play-doh formation, stamps to create words, and to utilize during alphabet center games. We often use dry erase boards to practice recognizing letter sounds and letter formation. In addition to dry erase boards we rainbow write our names and sight words. I am always looking for new and creative ways to make repetition interesting for students! All of the centers I do I try and build fine motor skills by utilizing hands on centers!
This will change our students' lives for the better. My daily hope is that students enjoy school and feel success at an early age. I want them to have fun while learning!
