My group of students have Individualized Education Plans based on reading, writing, math and adaptive behavior goals. Half of the day we spend in small groups in my tiny classroom and half of the day I spend pushing into general education classrooms and supporting my students there. My students are funny, fidgety, smart, clever, patient, endearing and kind. They work their hardest everyday at school, striving to meet their academic and personal goals. They make me proud every single day.
My Project
The books that I have carefully selected will help students with phonological awareness as well as help them build confidence with reading. Most of these books are specifically geared to teach phonics skills, English sounds and phonemic awareness.
These books will help my students who need the most intensive and explicit instruction when it comes to phonics.
Teaching students through reading, kinesthetic activities, songs and poems will keep my students involved, engaged and having fun while learning. My plan is to strengthen their skills in phonics so they become more fluent readers!
