This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a committed 4th Grade Reading/Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher to delightful students at a Title I school located in a rural but loving community.
Many of the students come from poverty stricken environments, and all of the students receive free lunch and breakfast.
In spite of some of their conditions, they still strive to come to school to give learning their very best. However, these students are in need of various supplies and reading materials and resources necessary for them to be effective and successful in reaching their goals, not only in school but life.
My Project
In our poverty stricken community; students are limited to exploring the rewards of reading. Many of our students do not have transportation to the local libraries or an abundance of grade leveled books at home. A book can open a world of opportunity and imagination. We want our students to enjoy and love the gift that a book brings to their lives.
Our fourth grade students need incentives to read and complete Accelerated Reading tests.
We are requesting rewards such as; I love to read bookmarks, bracelets, pencils, writing journals, book bags, and candy. These rewards will not only encourage, but motivate them to reach their Accelerated Reading goals.
