Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Each and every day in my classroom is an exciting challenge. Each student brings their own unique qualities to create the most amazing adventure. From the first day of school I have emphasized that we are on this journey together. By working together we can all achieve the highest levels of success. Students are expected to ask questions, collaborate with each other to solve problems, and be overall good citizens of our school community. It is my responsibility to push them to success, offer advice, and guide and direct them to maximize their learning potential.
Each student needs to know that they are a special part of our school family.
By working as a team, they will be given the tools they will need to achieve any goal they set for themselves.
My Project
As a Language Arts teacher, I am always encouraging my students to read. Reading skills are modeled and taught using classroom novels, Scholastic magazines, and a vast collection of non-fiction sources. Emphasis placed on vocabulary, descriptive language, figurative language, mood, and style will not only increase comprehension, but will also promote growth of writing skills.
It is essential to have high interest books available to encourage students to read by choice.
A variety of current titles will draw students attention to reading for leisure. Independent reading is also a quiet, calming activity which is beneficial to all students and will allow time for one on one student-teacher contact for those students who need it.
