Help me give my students books to meet their varied needs. Having different leveled books helps my students be successful during their daily independent reading time. Students love graphic novels like Camp, Best Friends & Just Jaime.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in a high poverty school where my students face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the obstacles they face, my students enjoy school. School is their safe haven, it's the constant in their life.
All students deserve the same opportunities to become successful, competent readers!
Some of the students in my classroom come from homes where learning to read is not a top priority. Meeting the child's basic needs of food and shelter takes precedence. Many of the families I service do not speak English as their first language. My students typically do not live in homes filled with books. All students deserve the opportunity to be immersed in a learning environment where reading is valued and enjoyed.
My Project
My 5th-grade students enjoy their daily independent reading time. During this time, they have freedom of choice! I like to keep newly published books in our classroom library to keep my students motivated.
I teach a group of diverse learners.
Many students in my class are reading below grade level. In my experience, I have found that graphic novels are a great way to get reluctant readers interested in books!
I'm looking forward to adding many new titles to our classroom library. Many of these books are titles in a series. This is also a great way to get kids interested in books!
