My Students

I have the opportunity to teach some creative and enthusiastic learners who are faced with some challenges in the classroom and at home. We are a Title I school where a large population receives free or reduced-price lunch.

When I see my students, I see unlimited potential and possibilities.

My students are so much more than the labels placed on them. My goal is to have them continue to tap into every dream and possibility.

Despite all of the challenges that they face daily, these students are still eager to learn and are motivated to be the best they can be.

My Project

In order to get students reading, we need them to fall in love with books. My students are lower-level readers that often struggle with comprehension and fluency which makes this hard. Novel studies are an excellent way to accomplish this goal.

Reading a novel as a class helps give them confidence, builds a love of reading, and creates a strong reading culture.

A novel study is by far my students' favorite learning activity. Fish In A Tree and Restart are novels that will help motivate these readers and build a classroom climate that will fall in love with books.
